Easter weekend is my favourite weekend in the year. It is my favourite weekend because it is a reminder of what Jesus Christ did for us through His death, burial and resurrection. It reminds us that once, we were enslaved in sin and sentenced to death but thanks to the love and grace of God we have been liberated from the wages and the punishment of sin. It reminds us that once, we were poor but now are rich in Christ; that once we were stricken by disease but now we can experience the healing hand of God, and that once, we were enemies God but now we can enjoy an intimate relationship with Him.
In Leviticus 23:41-43, God commands the children of Israel to observe the feast of tabernacle, an annual festival to celebrate their deliverance from Egypt (a type of sin). For us in the New Testament reality, Easter is an annual reminder of our deliverance from sin and death; but also of the great exchange that happened at the Cross.
This Easter, let me encourage you to make use of this opportunity – remembering and celebrating all that Christ has done for us.
